My son will be 6 soon, we’re planning something fun + birthday gifts. +/- 2 weeks later “sinterklaas” is here, it’s tradition to give presents in their shoes. Then my daughter will be turning 4 right after, so more fun & gifts. +/- 2 weeks later again it’s Christmas with more gifts. Expensive times!

In the Netherlands there's no Halloween or Thanksgiving to keep it at bay so the Christmas/Sinterklaas stuff showed up in late August.
...corn sticks? How peculiar. These are nic-nacs in Belgistan; have always known these to exist in my almost half century. They're a traditional Sinterklaas treat. The colorful bit on top is hardened sugar paste, so they definitely have a usual level of knobbliness :-)
