Plenty of gorse in bloom at Stanmore Country Park www.harrowncf.org/SCP_home.html this morning, and a Common Carder Bee was taking advantage of them in gaps between the showers. SRB

Wildflower area at Stanmore Little Common yesterday after cutting and raking. It may not look like much now, but in summer it is alive with bees and butterflies. Created as a "stepping stone" between bigger reserves. Judging by the 7 frogs we found, should perhaps rather be called a jumping off pad!

The walking route fron Stanmore Station to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) through lovely (if, today, wet!) Stanmore Country Park is now live! Come out of the station, walk straight ahead up Kerry Avenue to this gate and follow the roundels.

Nope! Central London, to Stanmore north London is about 12 miles. Google says it takes 23 mins by car, ha!The very efficient London Underground takes longer than 23 mins! Shortest time for me by car is 2hrs. Thank God l don't live in London, just visit now and then.

I like Toffs in Ferrymead, most stuff is $2. Rangiora is good as there are about 8 op shops. There are 4 close together at Hornby too which are good. I like the St John’s at Sydenham & Edgeware. St Vinnies on Stanmore Road.
