3.5 is very streamlined. There are only complexities in character creation, if you engage with the VAST library of content that exists. IMHO of course.

meh, I think it gets a bad rap, its no more or less clunky than AD&D 2nd or 3.5 5e for all its flaws is way more streamlined and coherent
