Los Angeles International Film Expo (Filmex), 1974, late night second showing of Richard Lester's The Three Musketeers (because the world premiere earlier that evening sold out). The festival theme was swashbucklers and the audience was all fanatics. The ride across the sunset got its own ovation.

yes. i like the big buffet & there’s so much room in something so broad for swashbucklers & witchy stuff & political thrillers but i would love if they all came from that alternate dimension of care & craft. i remember gasping in episode 1 at the wall of gloves. that’s it. just a wall of gloves.

Ooh. I can never have enough Rathbone. Did you ever seen him in If I Were King, with Ronald Colman? Rathbone plays Louis XI and is Such A Shit. He's so great in whatever, from Holmes to the swashbucklers to the schlock.
