Or you find a partner who loves deep diving into a bunch of torah commentary! Also -- you can drash on your own opinion.

I'm really happy for everyone who loves to study Torah but that is not my personal relationship to Judaism

Sometimes I'm like "I like public speaking, do I want to drash" and then I remember drashing means doing a deep dive into a bunch of Torah commentary and I'm like... probably not

you joke, but up until this moment, I had forgotten unfolding cassette inserts like inverse-Al-Jaffee Fold-Ins and studying the tiny-print lyrics like they were the torah. And not every one had them! There were fistfights in school over debates over the correct lyrics to Duran Duran's "The Reflex."

Listen, I’ve believed in your dream from the start, and this is your day, and if you don’t want to read the Torah with the rabbi at your batmitzvah I don’t think a 43 year old gentile man has to, even technically.

But anyway the Bible has nothing to do with Rosh Hashanah! Eating apples with honey is a late medieval/early modern practice, not based specifically in any Torah verses. Still fun though!

I had heard something about "honey" in Torah referring to a sweet syrup made from dates. Any truth to that?
