Unicodeはliving standardだという認識なので、開発時点の完璧を求めてもメンテナンスコストが青天井なこと、また、この問題はシステムの制限にユーザが不便・不満を感じる所が問題なので、90%を救える、現実的なインプットだけに対応するで十分だと思うんですよね。技術的にどうこう言うならそもそもそんな制限無くそうって話になりますし。

今時なのでUnicode前提として合字とか考え出すと高コストになる認識です。とは言えクライアント側で制限しても何が送られてくるか分からないのでサーバーでチェックする仕組みが必要で「サーバーで厳密なチェックやれるならいい感じにして格納しちゃえよ」ということもありますが

No, shift+option+minus sign doesn't work anymore—only in Word, though. It still works in all other Microsoft properties. As I understand it, using unicode shortcuts for symbols on Macbooks is kind of complicated, but I'd be happy to be wrong!
