It’s been a very fine September day, perfect for a high up dog walk. She was a very clever girl!

Cycling in West Yorkshire. Lovely climbs around Butterley and Dowry Reservoirs. A loop with long gradual climbs and plenty of time to enjoy the views.

Butterley Reservoir nestled in the Wessenden valley, brown moorland above, and lush green grass on the dam embankment. Dark stone houses and dry stone walls line the roads.
The Pennine Way, a bridle way crosses a pack bridge and climbs through moorland between fences and drystone walls.
The s-bends of a main road curve through the moorland hills climbing into the distance.
Looking back towards Dowry Reservoir, the sunlight bright in the clouds and sparkling on the road and water surfaces. The road descends toward a corner and disappears towards the reservoir.
