A Greater Flamingo almost side on, having a flap after bathing. Its wings are wide open showing the bright orange/red feathers, with black trailing and end feathers. Only the one wing is visible from this angle. The rest of the bird is white with a special bent-at-the-end pink beak and pink legs. Taken at El Hondo, Alicante, Spain.

A Little Grebe, so intent on doing Grebe things, ignores the greeting from the Shelduck. Wisely, the duck watches where the Grebe goes before continuing to feed. #birds

At the bottom of the image is a Little Grebe, hurriedly intent on getting somewhere. At the top of the picture and out of focus, is a Shelduck, twice its size and keenly watching the Grebe. Quality couple of days #birding around Alicante region, with trips to Tabarca and Clot de Galvany yesterday, and today spent around El Hondo. Highlight has to be the Bluethroats (eight in total today). Loads of waders from first two hides along Vistabella Road, including a Bar-tailed Godwit. Nice!
