I've traveled down a rabbit hole. Fun fact, melanoma is one of the cancers most likely to metastasize to the brain. But that is not the rabbit hole. The rabbit hole is amyloids. (The first rabbit hole was the similarity of skin and brain cells) www.cancer.gov/news-events/...

Alzheimer’s-Linked Protein May Help Melanoma Spread to Brain

Melanoma cells that travel to the brain produce their own amyloid beta, helping the cancer cells survive and form metastases, a new study in mice shows.

Similarly, but also the opposite, I was watching the local news at my parents' house & an ad came on for "Amyloid.com" & I thought, "Don't they no longer think amyloids cause Alzheimer's?" And the site seems to be trying to sell you amyloid meds but doesn't mention Alzheimer's? Just "memory."

Several posters were brought to present a small part of the work that's been done over the last year, with a focus on #cryoEM of functional amyloids.

Amyloids: love them or hate them, you can't ignore them. "We propose that this epigenetic information is transmitted by amyloid-like structures that are inherited through the germline and segregate to both somatic and germ lineages of WT C. elegans offspring..." www.nature.com/articles/s41...
