on narrative focus: I loved the attention given to the bittersweet nature of victory and loss. while shounen sports manga always pay lip service to how winning isn't everything ... it kind of is? in aokana, the victory of emotional maturity is distinctly sweeter than any real victory.
finished aokana and aokana extra 2 recently - incredible sport VNs, not that there seems to be much competition in that space. but I really liked the series, especially in comparison to shounen sports mangas for two specific reasons: 1. the strategic depth; 2. the different narrative focus
do i start aokana next or do i actually make progress on the blvns + fatamoru that i just put on hiatus like a yr ago
We must see Anki as theory and immersion as practice. Coming back to Aokana, after a month and a half, things started to get better. I understood bits/sentences even if I had difficulty.
As for immersion, I will give a brief summary of what I was able to read in an entire year of immersion: - Aokana (27 September 2023 until 6 January 2024, I don’t have the hours) - Rance 01 in 23h - Aokana's extra 2 in 29 hours - Majikoi in 129 hours
