Nah they found a big-ish crater off the coast of africa in 2022, but they're trying to sensationalise the headline for clicks Basically a large asteroid (but not massive) estimated to have hit 1 or 2 million years after the kpg, massive tsunamis, earthquakes, etc. May be part of a theorised cluster

Also chicxulub was a perfect alignment of "one very bad day" Most "big" asteroid impacts we have craters for are just devestating for a relatively local area like a single nuke rather than "nothing bigger than small animals survived the immediate aftermath"

eh, anyone can be struck by lightning, especially people who golf a lot and have the kind of judgment that makes them look straight at the sun during the non-totality part of a solar eclipse. i'd require a perfect-sized asteroid to strike with surgical precision to even consider it.
