And again you use the atrocities of one side to justify the atrocities of the other. Just as Netanyahu does. Do you really not see that it is just an endless cycle of justification of the next atrocity using the last. This attack will simply be used by Netanyahu and his like to justify more death

One can even argue that since slavery is woven into the US's founding, it's impossible to really untangle it. I think that's true, honestly. We cannot change that this country was built on atrocity. But we can stop that legacy and not repeat it.

And have you noted the war crimes that the IDF has committed in Gaza? I literally just said that NO civilians should be harmed. That means they all have human rights-- the ones dealing w/atrocity from Israel, the ones under Occupation, the ones being terrorized by Hamas and Hezbollah. All.

It kills me that we've propped up Netanyahu's genocidal belligerence for a year, as every day new images of atrocity and messages of families obliterated, journalists, HCWs, aid volunteers, and children slaughtered.... And now that he's provoked the obvious response, what move do we have left?

"Sure these strikes hit military targets carrying out the actual wholesale atrocities against civilians that occurred irl & there's no proof they've resulted in any casualties so far but my anxieties about a hypothetical atrocity against a single Israeli leave me no choice but to both-sides this"

You are completely missing the point. I condemn all that as well. Trying to use Israel's actions to justify this is just as bad as when Israel uses this attack to justify their next atrocity. There is no justification for this just as there is no justification for their genocide.

I know it can be difficult to recall because every 0.8 months Israel gleefully commits some new even more unspeakable atrocity that takes the stage for a bit but that DID happen right??? we remember????

all i can give is what i am. i know it’s not enough but i also know it has meaning. i am ok with feeling sorrow, anger, dismay, anguish, frustration—but i am tired. tired of the endlessness of atrocity & the lack of avenues for efficacy, agency, actual shared liberation & meeting of needs.

Stop making Frank Herbert right

Quote from Children of Dune "Atrocity is recognized as such by victim and perpetrator alike, by all who learn about it at whatever remove. Atrocity has no excuses, no mitigating argument. Atrocity never balances or rectifies the past. Atrocity merely arms the future for more atrocity. It is self-perpetuating upon itself a barbarous form of incest. Whoever commits atrocity also commits those future atrocities thus bred."
