Windows 3.1 was not bootable. You loaded MSDOS first and often the autoexec.bat would be configured to load Windows.
Almost got an heart attack yesterday bc I put my computer on sleep mode too often and suddenly got a "no bootable" screen 💀

Got a new Mac. MBP 16". Had to create a bootable installer for Sequoia first. Tried Migration Assistant, took over 5 hours to finish. After finish, issues with keychain because it was replaced by Passwords. Now trying Time Machine backup, says 8-9 hours. 😱 why does this process feel so old?Got a new Mac. MBP 16". Well fuck me sideways, Rufus maybe recognized the problem, BUT STILL DIDNT MANAGE TO CREATE A BOOTABLE STICK FFS
I always make my bootable thumbdrives by using dd to copy the ISO directly to the raw drive. I don't know why, but I've never found a GUI tool that's actually reliable.
I am currently trying (and failing) to even get a bootable debian install usb working. stay humble, peeps.
The tails OS she is referencing here is a hardened bootable OS :)
I want to get these and install a small bootable os on one.
