On my second day in Nimes, I visited the bullring which dates back to Roman times. There was blood on the sand and I got bitten by horseflies, sat as I was on seats close to the gates from which the bulls emerge. There was a strong aroma of bull manure.

I realise The Bullring at 4:30pm on a Saturday is going to be busy and I’m very much a people person but I had to stop, close my eyes and catch my breath for a moment. Which isn’t usual for me.
My 16 and 18 year old kids born in Sweden have started watching "The Responder" and are tickled that their Dad was born in a building where a lot of it was filmed.
We asked 100 people in the Bullring shopping centre........
