this is why ive just stopped engaging in any intercommunity discussion on fucking anything. as a black trans guy whos never had even a conservative 'phase' ive had lots of white queers apologize to me later for their behavior when they were closeted. this is a trend i noticed w irls in HS

1. Seeing Rocky Horror with my gf & my (back then) closeted gay brother. We threw rice but nobody else did! 2. (EMBARRASSING!) Going to see Fantasia w/ a friend after both ate a piece of hash... and having to calm her down when she wanted to stand on her seat & shout "This is sexist SHIT!" (It was)

I didn't fully grasp it at the time as a closeted trans teen girl in the mid to late 90s but all of these 5 were really formative characters to me. And two are even in the same movie! You'd think Trinity (Matrix) would be here too but somehow I never connected with her more than "yeah, she's cool".

Ripley and Lambert in Alien (1979)
Sarah Connor in Terminator 2 (1991)
Ritsuko Akagi from Neon Genesis Evangelion
Lain from Serial Experiments Lain

a lot of it was closeted "god i wish that were me" that I've since tried out/got over but I still really like the whole 2010-ish goth/emo girl fashion

Histoire de changer, je vais laisser la place à des reviews Steam pour vous rendre curieux sur 1000XResist (mon GOTY sans trop d'hésitation), si ce n'est pas déjà le cas.

Gameplay 3/10 Story 10/10

This is what would happen if you blended Nier, The Matrix, M Dot Strange, V for Vendetta, Bladerunner, Death Stranding, Deadly Premonition, Eternal Threads, a philosophy 101 course, a Jacob Geller video essay, Promised Neverland, Evangelion, and a bunch of closeted clone lesbians together. I cried very much at this milkshake of an indie game. It's worth experiencing for sure but only at the right time and that's maybe the most meta thing about it. Very cool that it exists and very cool that I got to play it.
Okay, remember the ladder climb in MGS3, and how despite it having absolutely bland gameplay but somehow being a highlight of the game? Imagine that as a whole game, but it somehow not getting old. Gameplay peaks in the first chapter and only gets worse as the game goes on, and yet the further I played, the more in love with it I fell. It's also not something I could really see working as a movie or even a visual novel with how the gameplay, as bare as it is, is an active part of the storytelling. It's a fantastic story with incredible worldbuilding, and I don't really want to say much more than that.
Imagine if you combined Evangelion and Final Fantasy 8 into a walking simulator. It hits you with constant twists. Other games feel cheap when they switch things up on you at this pace, but this game has the writing to make it interesting and not tiring. It's great at feeding you little bread crumbs to keep you going.
The voice acting is fantastic. The graphics are kinda simple, but effective. The game is full of wild visual choices.
The gameplay is kinda light. There are simple puzzles and some fetch quests; mostly you're wandering around talking to a bunch of weirdos and mentally piecing the story together.
If you're into nonlinear storytelling or a creative visual style, I'd highly recommend!

While Sarah is closeted, emotionally and socially closed, her personality is half-run by an overtly Korps-friendly and loyal matrix that cannot be extricated. She sometimes finds herself in situations - and outfits - that thrill one side of her, and embarrass her suppressed exhibitionist side.
