Jessica Fletcher does almost always work with law enforcement (at least in the 80s there was no other concept of a path towards justice against murderers) but the other good thing about cozies is one of the best: the social othering of Little Old Ladies to the detriment of the establishment
this is the main reason i write private investigators and cozies: because they are not COPS they are not beholden to LAWS and they get to do what is RIGHT. it’s a bald faced acknowledgement that law is not always just.
Had a long walk with my friend Ziggy. My first encounter with guinea fowl. The walk would have been quicker if I the humans hadn’t spent so much time picking blackberries and admiring the allotments
She writes murder mysteries located in Ireland. Definitely not “cozies,” but also not overtly horrific. Dublin Murder Squad titles are police procedurals that go deep into the lives of the detectives that are the main characters. A minor character in one becomes the main character in another.
