My biggest regret of the BLADE franchise is that Karen didn’t come back in the sequels. Such a great character. She could’ve been just another action movie damsel but she isn’t.
Suddenly, it turns out he's trying to find a Najin to heal a paralyzed woman and then he just leaves after Jang disappeared with Chae-ok? That was some confusing motivation. The Chairman was useless, and Yuh + Noh were pointless. We didn't like Chae-ok becoming a damsel in distress in Ep 7. (2/3)
Pride is a damsel in distress Hiding away where only I can undress her Try all she can not to confess In the end, it's all the same once I apply all the pressure
I usually issue a challenge for someone to name a single time when "damsel tied to the tracks" was used in a serious mainstream drama of the silent era. I inevitably get someone replying with a Keystone still. Dude. Do the mustaches not give you a hint that this is a broad comedy?
I'm not even kidding. The trope of "damsel tied to the tracks" pretty much only existed in broad slapstick comedy. For silent drama, the dudes needed rescuing badly.
What other attempts have there been on playing with the classic damsel in distress story? www.resetera.com/threads/99...
