I see the sun setting on my dream of taking a sabbatical and signing on as a cargo ship deckhand for a couple months. If that ever changes I’ll do my best to make both of our dreams come true.

Tomorrow is the first day of the winter season for the Toronto ferries, so we're back to one ferry (the Ongiara, which I've been one of Mates for since mid July). Is also the last day for a large number of seasonal crew (some sticking around until November 5th). Go back to deckhand Wednesday

I'm actually looking forward to being a deckhand. I can study for my exam with other deckhands. I like doing that

A friend of mine works as a deckhand on one of those harbor cruise boats... and after I questioned the need for something or other, he gave me a very serious look and said "Have you met the public?"

Yeah. There does appear to be the deck plan book too—but AFAICT, ship stats get a bit hand-wavey, when part of me wants stats for tonnage, acceleration, etc. [Old post deleted & rewritten because my ‘phone swapped deck plan for deckhand & I have no words.]

I don't hate parker but I do not think he is cut out for yachting. he cannot take a critic or criticism without getting upset and like dude. you are a green 3rd deckhand. you are the bottom of the bottom. you are gonna get bossed around
