p.s. because character limit. he told deKooning what he planned to do. consent was important so it couldn't be called vandalism. when he agreed to give him a drawing to erase, deKooning reportedly said 'i'm not going to make it easy for you!'
thanks for posting!! my first encounter with robert rauschenberg's 'Erased deKooning' was as a college freshman in an art history survey class. i NEVERr thought the same way about art after that. RR has been my 'art hero' from that moment on. a constant inspiration. here's his drawing...
