I know its high level play but good fucking lord i have not been so thoroughly thrashed since i got mauled by direwolves at level 2 (complimentary) (I'm terrified) (we have a healer so not all is lost)

I'd put so much money into the people trying to breed what are essentially domestic direwolves and other creatures of that sort. Also medical testing. I'm talking the type they aren't allowed to do, even if the subjects are volunteer only, because of ethics. If it could save lives then do it.
Hati and Skoll are complicated beasts, the brothers having been former shamanistic mages that sought Ark out to try and kill, as many mages do. He really wasn't up to killing anyone that day, so he converted them instead. Warped their bodies into hulking direwolves.
There is still a 'prime' self that is largely disconnected from the rest. It's not really his weak point. It's more sentimental. It's the avatar that does the most traveling. You can spot it at a glance from his constant companions, his direwolves Hati and Skoll.
