Spyro and Alien Trilogy worked well, and they generally felt like I was getting a good 60 FPS in most cases. This is kind of what I always wanted with Spyro since I could upscale it. Alien Trilogy works well as an FPS with 60 FPS is a good match. Weirdly it felt like I had stick drift, but on a dpad

It’s actually unreal how fun the movement is ahaha. I feel like I’m barely ever pressing left and right on the dpad, I’m always just mashing the shit out of L and R

went to our local retro game shop and i found quite possibly the most cursed n64 controller ever made and yes it sucks just as much to hold as it looks. you legitimately hold it at an angle

a Super Pad 64 plus controller. it is cursed. the left half of the controller with the dpad and joystick is a giant wedge about twice as thick as the right. the right half with abc buttons is almost shaped like a ps2 grip

A nice bit o' SNES and Mega Drive stuff has arrived: An issue of Superplay and an MD pad I've been after in good condition for a while: a Sega MEGAFIRE! This one is in pretty spotless condition (most I saw in the past had rusty screws and quite worn) and the buttons and dpad feel great.

A photo of the Sega Megafire 3 button controller (It's an official one from Sega with turbo switches) and issue 8 of Superplay with Pop 'n' TwinBee as the cover artwork and one of the features.

Bit the bullet and got one of the 8Bitdo NeoGeo gamepads. I'm not saying I'm any better at kof but I am saying it feels much nicer than a regular analogue stick or dpad.

I think I might actually like it more if so many of the abilities weren’t locked behind a button chord (left Dpad + face buttons) that I can’t seem to learn and which require me to be a sitting duck while I fiddle w/ them. This should be a game where I used smoke bombs! I never have!

One of my favourite JPN PlayStation 1/2 pads - the Hori Sindou! Sleek and curved with a smooth dpad (gliding your thumb over works best) and three separate modes - plus variable rumble. Plus transluency! 💙

A photo of a Sindou pad. translucent blue with curved grips and a smooth rockerish dpad.
