Taking my StanSt EarthSci class to Yosemite Vally tomorrow and looking forward to hobbling several miles in my walking cast with them as we explore the rocks, water and air in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Here’s a late October shot from 2021 to set the mood.

Half Dome looks over golden oak trees of Ahwahnee Meadow during golden hour of light.

I got around to taking a pic of my teaching setup for Polarized Light Microscopy in #Archaeology#Archaeometry#ceramics#Mesopotamia

Big screen monitor attached to a microscope showing a ceramic thin-section petrofabric at 100X magnification, various rocks and minerals scattered around the screen.

Interesting, but contrary to the article, ice and soil wedges on Earth occur in far more places than Greenland, Iceland, and Antarctica. There are way more in Canada/Russia/Alaska and far larger forms. #earthsci#permafrost

Pretty graphs of permafrost ground temperatures from data loggers and manual readings from multimeters (dots). #permafrost#cdnsci#earthsci

Been trying to calculate how exposed global sand resources are to development pressures. Always nice when your ideas produce nice visuals, even if you're not sure what they mean yet! #SandMining#ExtractiveIndustries#datavis#EarthEngine#ArcGISPro#EarthSci ⚒️
