YES. YES. And the point wasn't to monetize it, the enjoyment was just in the playing! If I remember right, the banker guy ended up being a liaison to the ferengi, which, just, lmao

It's still dramatic cosplay, in the sense that you're watching a story based on real historical characters, but they are decidedly NOT the historical characters. To get any enjoyment, the viewer has to let go of that. But I didn't find it any less believable than Taiga dramas with boy band stars. It's still dramatic cosplay, in the sense that you're watching a story based on real historical characters, but they are decidedly NOT the historical characters. I know I’m dangerously close to getting on my soapbox here re: the works of Tolkien but one person’s “unnecessary lore/worldbuilding” is another person’s “deeply personal art.” Or a thing that enhances their enjoyment of another person’s art.

You have a lot of enjoyment ahead of you. I would suggest you start with the classic Smiley trilogy, which begins with Thinker Tailor Soldier Spy. You can't really go wrong starting with any book though, except that you should read TTSS before The Honorable Schoolboy, and THS before Smiley's People

This is great. I've been trying to notice more often when my brain is seeking pleasure as a need, which is tough cause I unfortunately still have some formative "unproductive time is bad" mentality to work through. I've never considered olfactory enjoyment, that's really interesting!

And to compound this, the really good weapons in Splatoon get to have both longer range than you AND instant kill if you get close to them. I think I'm once again getting to the point of a competitive game journey where all the flaws are sticking out to me so much and really harming my enjoyment.
