Check out our group's latest population genetics paper exploring how a tough little minnow has evolved to survive in a soup of pollution at the New Bedford Harbor Superfund site. doi.org/10.1093/jue/...#evosky#evolsky#evolution#evobio#evolbiol#popgen#ecoevo#molevol

A map of the shoreline of southern New England, USA. Levels of PCBs are listed on the map. The highest levels are in New Bedford Harbor. Below the map is a structure diagram showing a general east / west split. However the populations in New Bedford are distinct from this general pattern.

How do sex-biased genes evolve in a highly dimorphic bug with weird reproduction? Female-biased genes evolve quickly but less adaptively; male-biased genes evolve more slowly but with more positive selection in mealybugs. More in preprint: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...#evolsky#evosky#moleco

Genetics of mealybugs: the entire genome is autosomal in both sexes but males suppress their paternal alleles to act functionally haploid.

What can an aquiculture pest like salmon lice teach us about molecular evolution? My co-author and I reanalyzed existing data to understand the roles of drift and adaption in sex chromosome evolution: academic.oup.com/evolut/advan...#evolsky#evosky#molevo

There's Wuhan mosquito virus 6 (WuMV-6) news from our lab! We got some sequences from Lithuanian mosquitoes & it looks like WuMV-6 here is related to the divergent lineage from Sweden which is interesting in the context of some hypotheses we have about this virus. 1/2 #VirEvol#EvolSky#MicroSky

After many years in the making (and an eternal cycle of adding new data....) our work on the discordance among phylogenomic datasets in #aphids@dome-vienna.bsky.social@inrae-france.bsky.social#EvolSkydoi.org/10.1101/2024...
