Missing the local shops Cutlacks and Kailash. Could pop out, buy a couple of garden things and household things and be home in 30 minutes. Now it's 30 minutes walk each way and a hunt through a warehouse; big excursion for me, needs planning (weather, timing, pacing, bathrooms, cab home?).

And 14th: Several people recommended ‘Flowers for Algernon” to me. Charlie’s excursion from low to high IQ and back again makes for an interesting plot and is adroitly handled. But for me the story hardly ever caught alight. I tripped over the clunky science, but maybe I’m the monster… #Booksof2024
