The brain is incredible when it comes to language. Even though I'm most comfortable with English, b/c Kindaichi fanworks are mostly in Japanese, my thoughts about the series often slip into that language even if my proficiency is...er, questionable. But the only way forward is practice!

Not to mention there is so little source material to work with that those children pursue fanworks as their only other option. This is why we get all those weird ships and headcanons, because the actual fanbase has been dead for so long that they have claimed the show as their own territory.
