Sketch 05 — Goals: cuteness, peace, fluid lines, structure, sketchy… This is the final clean sketch ready for printing. My next step is to work on developing the finished ink line. (I posted the sketches in reverse order, so feel free to read back to front.)
Sketch 04 — I like this sketch. It has a nice combination of solid structure and sketchiness. However, the baby’s left cheek is too big (I noticed this by flipping the image horizontally).
Sketch 03 — Here I’ve tried to add a bit more wight and movement by curving the lines and pushing at the baby as if it was made out of plasticine. Still feels too stiff.
Sketch 01 — Developing a Style for “Just Dance!” This is the initial pose sketch of a baby in a tutu sitting inspired by a photo. I added a puppy leaning on her leg. The baby looks a bit stiff (lines are mostly vertical and horizontal) and the proportions are too realistic — I want to add more movement and weight.
