Check out the latest paper published in Open Quaternary (we need a BlueSky account-oops). "Old Fossils, New Information: Insights into Site Formation Processes of Two Pleistocene Cave Sequences in Zambia from Enamel Amino Acid Geochronology" openquaternary.com/articles/10....

Good work on reanalyzing the geochronology. Enjoyed the article. Fascinating, Dee! Thank you.

6/ A personal link – as Director of the ANU Research School of Earth Sciences in the early 80’s, Ringwood was a major supporter of building the Sensitive High Resolution Ion Microprobe (SHRIMP) for geochronology. Sadly I never met him, but my career would have been very different without his work.

2/ In U-Pb geochronology, Pb has 4 isotopes: 204, 206, 207, 208. All but 204Pb are from radioactive decay of U and Th and used for dating minerals. 204Pb was here before the Earth formed. It tells us how much Pb was already in a mineral when it formed and corrects our age dating calculations.

If the altar stone at Stonehenge was transported some of the way by a glacier, it is most likely it would have been plucked from subsurface bedrock. Once deposited as an erratic it would be exposed from then til now. So could try 36Cl cosmic nuclide geochronology to date the surface. If it was
