#currentlyreading#alwaysreading#letsreadmorebooks#librarybooks#libraryhorror Giving REPRIEVE by james han Mattson a try. The cover art and type face remind me of the books at the old library in strawberry point, Iowa. Old books, classic style.

Today's #libraryhorror 📚 story: I worked at a library that had George Fraser Black's research collection on Witchcraft, and curated a display from it. One of the books was in *really* poor condition. There was a request for it several years later... It had vanished. We searched everywhere.

Lighter #libraryhorror 📚: Morristown library had basement problems since a 1994 gas explosion there. In 2010, staff noticed ominous light flickering at opening time, locked doors & evacuated, before another explosion blew off the front doors & destroyed the old wing, popping manholes on the street.

Serious #libraryhorror story 📚 : Portersville CA library had no sprinklers but shared a wall & access door with Fire dept. Library caught fire; someone thought there might be an elderly lady w/walker still on 2nd floor. 2 firefighters died in the search.

Short #LibraryHorror for October 📚 ... Library staff was currently in the middle of processing a circa 100 box donation, when they got a call asking them to keep an eye out for human remains that might have inadvertently been packed with the donation.

More #libraryhorror 📚 stories for October: the collections librarian for a very old/big business school showed up at a librarian gathering and told us that he'd been forced to deaccession the entire print business history collection. It was like The Ancient Mariner.

Nobody with more #libraryhorror 📚? Floods maybe? I know there are some good library flood stories that are past their NDA.
