unless and until we’ve put insurmountable concrete and steel through hundreds of miles of incredibly hostile territory it’s “open” i guess can’t let any migratory animals through

Good question! There are migratory birds all over Rock Creek Park but maybe the combination of woods and open areas by the maintenance yard makes it easier to see them.

Blue-headed vireos don't really have blue heads but vireo is a latin word referring to a green migratory bird and this one sure has those things going for it 🪶

Anyone who says “animals are a big part of my vote” should read up on Trump and the Migratory Bird Act because they won’t like it

this book hates owls

GOBLUS LIVED APPROXIMATELY 1500 YEARS BEFORE THE EVENTS OF OUR TALE, WHICH TAKES PLACE ABOUT A GENERATION AFTER A TIME KNOWN AS "THE GREAT OWL SHIFT". THE SHIFT OCCURRED WHEN CROWS REPLACED OWLS AS MESSENGERS, AS THEY ARE NON-MIGRATORY, NON-HOMING AND NOT PARTICULARLY BRIGHT BIRDS AND HONESTLY WHO HAD SUGGESTED MAKING THEM MESSENGERS IN THE FIRST PLACE? THESE WERE NOT MAGICAL FAMILIARS, EITHER.
JUST PLAIN OLD OWLS.

CROW FRIENDS UPDATE The migratory group that lives in my neighborhood in autumn/winter has arrived, and apparently remembers me from last year. Today I as I was walking to the gym, a bird swooped out of the trees onto the roof of a car and stared at me until peanuts were given.

you could go with the angle that misic knows no borders, and explain how different migratory movements throughout history have enriched what we listen today? or play Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street it's about moving to "the big city" but also applies across oceans, i found.
