Huītzilōpōchtli could take the form ('nagual') of hummingbird or eagle, was always depicted in a hummingbird feather headdress. In fact, his name is huītzilin "hummingbird" and ōpōchtli for "south". Aztec warriors who died in battle were reincarnated as hummingbirds.

Not sleazy or exploitative, some interesting ideas - I've never seen a nagual movie before, although effectively it was very much a werewolf movie, slightly localized, right down to the silver bullets.
Tonight's film is NAGUAL DEMON SHAPESHIFTER (1987, El Nahual Cazador de demonios), a Mexican horror film dealing with an indigenous shapeshifter called a nagual. The naming of this one is a bit iffy, but look for director Gilberto de Anda and you'll find it on IMDB under "Cazador de demonios."
