I feel like I've been talking for five days straight but the weather is beautiful and clear, and if the fates are kind I'll be in bed in an hour

Night photo showing a jumble of architecture. From left to right: building under construction with cranes topped with red lights, English neogothic church mostly visible behind modern staircase with lit railings, a swoopy curved low roof (very nice Thai restaurant), distant ominous black tower with the moon above (very goth), and modern shopping centre on the far right

Hello #WritingCommunity! I am Chris! I am a science fiction/fantasy novelist and adjunct English teacher in Alabama! Life is good! I’m editing a postmodern postapoc and I’m about a month I will edit a neogothic crime fighting novel. Hopefully someday I’ll have something published.

Yesterday's adventures in Mechelen, part 1.

My mom, seen from the back, walking down a covered walkway on the side of the city hall. The floor is shiny dark tile, on the left are light colored pillars, with the street mostly invisible beyond. On the right are windows and above neogothic arches. I believe it's a 20th century construction based on 16th century plans but I'm not positive as the building complex is very complicated. My mom is in a knee length white and blue dress, carrying a small purse, a blue raincoat, and a shopping bag with a roll of paper sticking out.
Interior of a shop full of old books, drawings, and prints. In the foreground, stands with large maria and prints and a table with various papers and books. Behind that, a wall covered in bookcases, filled with books of various ages but nothing from the last century or so. Framed art fills the bits of wall that don't have bookcases. A doorway to a room with now books and things in the background.
A tall glass of oat milk chai latte, on a small plate with a napkin, sugar, and a small piece of cake. The plate sits on an outdoor cafe table with an empty chair just beyond. Another table sits in the background, beyond that a hedge and gate to a quiet city street with some historic building opposite.

Hometown Tourism Photos made on June 28, 2024 using a Pentax K2 with an SMC Pentax-M 100mm f/2.8 on Fuji Velvia 50 (Exp. 2010?) #BelieveInFilm

Line of ducks along a small wooden dock lining a recreational canal. Out of focus in the background is a boat named Dragonfly with a small United States flag mounted to the rear.
View of a set of canal locks from an elevated position. The canal leads down to a wide and calm river (the Ottawa River). In the background is a steel bridge to the city across the river, Hull, Quebec.
Tourists walking from behind a stone building to see one of the canal's grey-painted locks. An official with the locks' operations team leans on one of the railings watching the day.
Neogothic clock tower showing 10:00 (am). The tower is surrounded by trees in the frame and the skies are clear and blue.

Sanders Theatre/Annenberg Hall, Cambridge, MA - June 2024. #theatre#architecture#neoGothic#victorianGothic#photography

Color photo of Harvard’s Sanders Theatre/Annenberg Hall from the southwest corner of the intersection of Quincy Street and Cambridge Street. A large brick/stone structure of gothic design, the photo depicts it in a vertical composition with a fair amount of blue sky above (a few wispy clouds too) and the heavily marked (bike lanes, travel lines) pavement below. The scene is also peppered with street lamps, trees, some cars near the intersection. One street sign that partially bisected the sky was removed with A.I.

Happy #Pride Spokane! I’m pleased my EMM t-shirt “LOVE your neighbor” arrived in time to wear today

A middle aged white woman smiles at the camera. She has glasses and a rainbow headband.
A new banner on my church, the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist, Spokane. Stone steps lead up to the entryway of a neogothic church building. The banner reads The Episcopal Church Welcomes You, with a different color behind each word. At the bottom where the banner is purple is the church logo (a stylization of our rose window)
