A top of that the syllabus needs substantial reform to move away from defunct neoclassicism much earlier. Much of the later syllabus of economics degrees is great - but many people never study it!

Yes, the Renaissance was exactly what the term says it was - ‘rebirth’ (re-naissance). That’s when European artists moved from serving only the church to recreating the ideals of Greek and Roman art. Then, Neoclassicism - 1870s had a lot of that, spurred by discoveries at Pompeii.
