It would be wonderful to see all your Star Trek reimaginings here on Butterfly Site! They are the apogee of appreciation art! DiscordeLancie is so demonically intense here, and although his advances can be too pushy and smug, Picard is the rat to handle it, being such a powerful presence, himself.
I mean stuff is obviously always "a product of it's time" and it is alright to see reimaginings of stuff, it's just an issue when it's either marketed as a replacement or something "better", because inevitably both will have pros and cons.
this is totally like one of those reimaginings of historic figures paintings, like what if george washington was in the ufc or whatever
Glad you did mention the more serious tone (which IMO is what makes me think of comparing it to God of War). Zhu Baijie has to bulk up and carry most of the jokes on his back. It works well enough, IMO, especially given the liberal reimaginings of the Journey's events in the game's metaplot.
Something about the endless stream of remasters, reimaginings, reboots and etc of games, shows, movies, stories that are decades or older feels very "Look, thanks to modern technology, now you can see 'the rest' of van Gogh's Starry Night!" to me.

This is a damned shame. I literally just heard about Kaos a week ago and have been watching an episode every night. I actually think it's a fun show with some interesting meaning. I used to hate modern reimaginings of ancient stories but I think Kaos is stupid fun and good.
Easily one of the best reimaginings of an album playback concept, ever(?) www.dookiedemastered.com
Green Day's landmark album, demastered in 15 formats. The way it was never meant to be heard.
That's honestly my big problem with DC.. The constant "Crisis" reboots and reimaginings are more about the universe as a comics universe than the characters, and it just gets hard to follow or care about after awhile. And it always just gels into the old status quo anyway, so it feels cynical.
“There are radical reimaginings of the world on almost every page of this collection, written by authors who represent some of the most exciting new names in speculative fiction.” -Omar El Akkad
