It’s been quite a lovely experience. The moderation tools we have make me feel much more safe, there’s less doomscrolling and I get to talk to awesome folks. Plus I find things I didn’t know I’d love (reading Robotech tonight!)
Personally i was only tangentially aware of anime when i picked up the Robotech novelisations. I was in that stage where the adults had given me a library card and i was going ham reading everything i could like a sponge absorbing all the books. I tore through the dozen or so novels.
Im not a huge anime fan but when i was a teen Robotech/Macross was my shit and since western media is obsessed with post apocalyptic survivalist settings im just gonna mention that you get a twofer with first the city being teleported to the outer reaches of the solar system and their journey home,
Speaking as someone who still considers themself a Robotech fan -- I swear to god, the vast majority of vocal Robotech fans are (and have been for decades) completely cuckoo-bananas. Heaven knows I wouldn't even try and make their case, but if I was, my brain DEFFO wouldn't go to that plot point.
still seeing people in the year of our lord 2024 sayin' that robotech is better than macross because it killed the bridge crew off screen via the involvement on an invisible identical giant battleship that only the script writer can see. maybe it's time to stop
all these bullshit robotech pseudo-innovations & still nobody to make Medabots real yet you cowards

So many fun super robot shows and they always try to remake the boring one. Oh well, at least it's not Robotech.
Also: The Palladium Robotech RPG looked super cool. Never played it, but the ads in Dragon Magazine always caught my attention. There were around fifty thousand books.
