I Love This Cover Dateline: 1960. Sekowsky and editor Schwartz were crafting a revival of the Justice Society that looks like it wants to complement Worlds Finest. No dialogue balloons, just a quiet font "World's Greatest Heroes team up" (no hyphen) #silveragecomicsmonth

I Love this cover Not sure I'll do a #SilverAgeComicsMonth this year on Bluesky, but this would be a good kick-off. Notice the simplicity, and that 'superpowers' are downplayed. I can feel Aquaman's Oomph. The circular composition is fluid, the colors bright, and no Superman or Batman either.

#SilverAgeComicsMonth This issue also contains some Russ Heath war art as well. You'll see the style that Lichenstein lifted over and over - the dynamic Wham! Blam! Blang! over a tank or something, in bold color, making a single panel resonate. Good Stuff.

The final toss for #SilverAgeComicsMonth Here is an 8 page DC war story (1955) by Kanigher and Infantino. A young man who "can't catch" (and maybe has an actual physical disability) saves his squad by catching and throwing an enemy grenade. Simple story, simply told, and still memorable.

My daughter is playing Lego Marvel Superheroes 2, and there are several Black Knights, including Sir Percy! Fun that the 2nd Black Knight couldn't use the Ebony Blade, but did create Aragorn the flying horse. He also successfully died (which is notable in comic books) #SilverAgeComicsMonth

Rivals take Center Stage in #SilverAgeComicsMonth Reggie would be popular enough to get a 2nd title in Reggie's Wise Guy Jokes in 1968, that also ran until 1980. Just remember that it was teen humor/teen romance books that led the way to supervillain starring comic books later.

Rivals Take Center Stage in #SilverAgeComicsMonth A few romantic rivals got their own comic books in the Silver Age, such as Millie's rival, Chili and Archie's rival, Reggie. Reggie had one from 1950-54, but this Silver Age title would go 1963-1980.

Getting all Medieval in #SilverAgeComicsMonth Stan Lee and Joe Maneely gave us this Arthurian Black Knight, Sir Percy. As with Zorro and Superman, there is the dual identities of Chump and Champ (wish fulfilment?) He has The Ebony Blade, and his archfoe is Mordred.

Beware of the Blot in #SilverAgeComicsMonth Gold Key gave The Phantom Blot - perhaps Mickey Mouse's 2nd best archfoe after Peg Leg Pete - his own comic book in 1964, running for 7 issues. How many *villains* have their own Silver Age comic book?

Twix or Bluesky I think I am still betwixt and between, posting some content here, some there. There are more #SilverAgeComicsMonth threads over there, for instance. twitter.com/jeffs_comics... As the month has progressed, I'm moving more here - but it is a lonely place, this Bluesky.
