A line graph of air pressure for Edmonton AB over the last 24 hours. It's a rounded convex curve, followed by a sharp angular drop and a sharper rebound. Pressure starts at 100.9 kPa at 1am Oct 20 and climbs to 101.3 kPa at 8am, holding steady until 1pm. It then begins to steadily and consistently drop to a low of 100.4 kPa at 11pm, before starting to increase again at midnight. It is now 100.6 kPa at 2am Oct 21.

The low that had been over Vancouver island has drifted inland over central alberta and has lost much of its intensity (central pressure is 100.0 kPa). It is spreading influence across the Cascadia and northwestern USA regions, and BC and alberta. It did not really link up with the low over Nunavut, which has gained size and intensity, and has influence across the arctic and into northern Quebec and Atlantic canda. Another low pressure system is moving into Alaska. It is large and intense (central pressure is 95 kPa) it looks to be headed in a westward and possibly southwestward direction. Dissolute high pressure governs most of central Canada though the Nunavut low is forming a wedge via James Bay.

Freezing temperatures are pushing in to the western provinces as the jet stream does a creative reverse-S-shape over alaska and BC before stringing a long windy line across the northern halfs of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec before taking a northward turn across Newfoundland. Snow for most of Yukon, BC, NWT, Nunavut and alberta and northern parts of saskatchewan and Manitoba (and Quebec). Warmth in the 10s and 20s still spreads across southern SK, MB, ON, QC, and atlantic Canada. The eastern half of the USA is getting 20+ Celsius highs while the rockies and western mountains approach freezing. Alaska is getting a slight reprieve from the very cold but isn't getting too much above freezing.

A Wizard Shadow-Being! Which is a species my mate made, but I absolutely adore to bits! ^^ I was testing a new art style when making this and actually liked the results.

A pure black humanoid figure with pure white eyes, lacking pupils. They wear a light green cloak on and a light green wrinkled pointed wizard's hat on their head, two circular metal pieces attached to the cloth and a piece of wood keep it loosely tied together. The backdrop is a night sky of various purple-blue shades and stars, some of them streaking across the sky. They stare straight ahead at the viewer. The artist signature, an A and S in gray cursive, is in the upper left corner.
The previous photo is now featured in the upper right corner as a reference. A staff is the center piece of this new picture. Brown primarily in color, bands of green-blue-yellow thread cover the middle portion of the staff where it can be gripped with two hands. The head of the staff spreads out similarly to a scythe, but on top of where the blade would normally rest is a handle for a hand. Beneath that is curved blade. Beneath the blade is a small curved hook. On the opposite side of this is a curved branching off, where the wizard has threaded netting through the staff, making it multipurpose. Metal cordage is also threaded throughout the structure for keeping the integrity, and for loosely keeping a green gem socketed within the center of the staff. This is a tool meant to carry them, meant to cut, meant to hook onto things, and meant to scoop things up or filter them depending on which part of the staff they use. Magic as a focus seems to come to them as a second thought.

I think the Odonian idea of the social organism is a good fit with the idea of good governance that I favour: where power originates locally, and spreads out (not up)by mutual agreement among those at any level to wider (not higher) levels of co-ordination (not top-down govt) out to the global.
