I swear every state has enough roads and infrastructure that having a state employed staff of road construction workers will be fully occupied, it’ll be cheaper because we’re not paying redundancy, and we won’t be putting tax money in megachurch tithe boxes via the contractor/owner.

Whenever I see "decimate" I have in the back of my head the "diezmo". In Spanish this referred to the 1/10 income contribution people would give to the church. Closest translation I can think of in English is the tithe.
