One final note…for my Plok manual stream this week I was fortunate enough to get the straight scoop from Ste himself, and it turns out that he and John wrote the manual on their own, on their free time, and delivered it - completed - to Tradewest to ensure they had full control over it.
I definitely drew all the illustrations because we wanted to make something like the Super Mario 3 manual, and it was a massive pain in the arse for Tradewest to photograph all my drawings, but we were really insistent.
This is the artwork we supplied, btw. Tradewest used it on this flyer, but nowhere else. It was painted by Chris Jojo, who was a musician at the studio (although he didn't work on the Plok music), but also a bloody good artist. The original painting is lost.
Oh wow!! That’s really intriguing! I wonder if there’s anyone ex-Tradewest who knows the rest of that story…. It’d be pretty cool if the model was still floating around somewhere! Thanks for making the game, by the way. I know it’s decades ago now, but my friends and I really enjoyed it.
I’ve no idea! Our studio supplied a really nice painting of more or less the same scene, which we intended to be the cover art. Then Tradewest made the model one. Our studio had no involvement with it.

This saying "Xbox Game Studios" instead of Rare or Tradewest is crazy to me, but also saying Xbox on a Nintendo console will continue to be crazy.
