the customs union is a no-brainer... except any alignment to EU rules is A COMPLETE LOSS OF SOVEREIGNTY!!!! except that every country in the world that manufactures to CE is, apparently, without sovereignty. don't worry. the EU will observe UKCA any second now... and prefer it!

Far be it for me to leap to @teamlabouruk.bsky.social defence here, but so far: scrapped UKCA watermark ✅ - 'Not for EU' labels binned ✅ - Youth Mobility Scheme, bubbling in the background. Funny how Brexit only works when it is undone! 😜

(2.) UKCA watermark cancelled. The 'Not for EU' labels postponed indefinitely. I even heard on here how the EU Commission is looking to add trading criteria to the Windsor Framework that EU has with Moldova & Ukraine. Funny how the break-off only works when it's reversed!

and then there's UKCA... anyone going to support this? anyone? oh, c'mon we had a giant empire once! can't we get some respect? the world: no.

Hah! Especially as meeting the requirement for a CE mark means you can legitimately put a UKCA mark on.

Next you’ll be telling me the UKCA mark is a pointless bit of UK puffery with no value to manufacturers or consumers 🙃

Very good piece by Chris Grey, as usual. Very scathing about Brexit & its aftermath. "UKCA was a particularly ludicrous piece of Brexit hubris, which has unravelled because in practice no one wanted it, and the country couldn’t afford it. In that sense, it is a metaphor for Brexit itself"

(EU CE marks were due to be replaced w UKCA mark but no longer) “[UKCA was a ludicrous piece of Brexit hubris, which unravelled because no one wanted it,& country couldn’t afford it.. In that sense, it’s a metaphor for Brexit.. Every time we see the CE mark on a product it will serve as a reminder]”
