My vague understanding is that it means, in an argument, giving your opposition an excuse for *why* they can change their mind without admitting they were wrong before (ie offer a way to give themselves permission, like, "you *were* right based on the data at the time, but there's new data")

As with any issue a complex understanding of scope-1, scope-2, and scope-3 water consumption, vs water withdrawal is being compressed into a simple to understand number. So much so that the simple to understand message is far too simplistic.

I have returned from my trip to Denmark with a deeper understanding of the country's water/wastewater industry and a case of COVID. This photo was perhaps one of the most iconic Danish sights I experienced...

I'm a Pokemon outsider who developed an intense disdain for the franchise after watching the idiotic cartoon in the late 1990s ("Pika Pika! Pika-a-choo! Just twenty bucks at Toys 'R Us!"), but my understanding is that Nexomon delivers the classic feel absent from modern Pokemon games.

ā€œIt is our understanding that Bluesky in its current state is largely a social media platform for people who have a problem with authority.ā€

Understanding the Death Project will lead to the horrors consuming you, but also insulating you

Those that are feeling horrified, anxious, and afraid do not understand the Death Project. Understanding means living with horror omnipresent, a thin layer of it coated on the inside of your skull, it means microdosing fear and impotent rage every day, every second.

An unredacted lawsuit contains damning passages from Snap employees complaining that the company's content moderation flow for removing child predators is totally broken www.platformer.news/snap-new-mex...

In August of 2022, the lawsuit reports that a Snap employee raised concerns that user reports of grooming and sextortion were going ignored. The employee had searched for ā€œnudesā€ in reports that had been submitted to the serviceā€™s content moderators and found repeated cases where no action had been taken by Snapā€™s unnamed vendor.

ā€œI am surfacing this thread regarding the guidance previously provided to our vendor agents with the hope of better understanding the existing guidance so that we can determine how we might need to expand it to ensure that user reports related to grooming and sextortion are not continuing to fall through the cracks,ā€ the employee wrote.

In response, another employee shares an account that had been reported 75 different times since the previous year, with reports ā€œmentioning nudes, minors and extortion,ā€ and yet the account remained active.
