~《搜神記》 Peng Zu was a longevity star who held the position of a minister during the Yin and Shang dynasties. His surname was Qian, name Keng. He was the grandson of Emperor Zhuan Xu among the Five Emperors and ranked in the middle among the sons of Lu Zhongshi. He lived through the entire Xia Dynasty and into the late Shang Dynasty, claiming to be seven hundred years old. He often consumed a Lingzhi mushroom called 'Guizhi.' In the Luyang Mountains of Anhui Province, there remains the site where Peng Zu ascended to immortality, known as 'Peng Zu Xianshi.' According to legends passed down from ancient times, prayers for good weather made at this temple were immediately answered. Two tigers used to frequent the temple's vicinity—one on each side. By the time of the Jin Dynasty, the temple had fallen into disuse, but traces of the tigers' activities could still be found near the site.
