Management does this tired little anti-union song and dance every time because they know they have something to lose, and because workers have a lot to win. Unions belong at Penn!

✅ and no anti-union website would be complete without a little threat of hard bargaining… because who doesn’t love an employer who promises to fight them for years at the bargaining table? 🙄

✅ more third-partying (“if AFSCME wins”) ✅ scare tactics about dues, which we’re guessing library workers know they would pay only after they successfully negotiate and ratify a contract that leaves them better off

Still ticking many of the usual boxes: ✅ Conflating workers with mgmt (“As librarians and staff of Penn Libraries, *we*…”) ✅ Third-partying the union (“We respect your right to engage or not engage with a labor union”)—um, you are talking to the labor union, i.e. librarians

This repressive action was a violation of the University’s Guidelines on Open Expression and a cowardly, shameful attempt to silence and punish speech that administrators simply do not want to hear.

While the details of the anti-D.E.I. crusade are extraordinary to see so directly stated, this should surprise no one. And the threats from billionaire CEOs at Penn, Harvard, and MIT are of a piece with the DeSantis agenda
