look, i'm just glad this is at least an actual sequel to Saw and that the series is going back to actually doing psychological horror. the material here largely works way better than Saw II, but unfortunately this has a bunch of pacing issues. My ★★★ review of Saw III on Letterboxd boxd.it/6GgJtF

this is bad enough that it should have killed the franchise. it's like they learned every wrong lesson from the original, it's the horror movie sequel problem but so much worse because of how good the first movie was. what a fucking disappointment My ★½ review of Saw II on Letterboxd boxd.it/6GdJef

a Takahata movie i actually like looking at! like a candy that is too sweet, that makes your teeth hurt but you're still glad to have consumed it. unfortunately, the movie is still a little too long, but it kinda just works. My ★★★★½ review of My Neighbors the Yamadas on Letterboxd boxd.it/6FOsRT

this is much more fun. it's a miracle! a Takahata movie i actually like looking at! Takahata finally figured out how to make his aesthetic and storytelling sensibilities work together in a format…

finally started to listen to @nandovmovies.bsky.social's mostly nitpicking podcast and decided to check out some of the older stuff, i did have a quick question, since i'm 43 minutes into the The Amazing Spider-Man episode from 2019 rn, how much of it would you say you still stand by?
