When you count some other papers too, I suspect that it might a majority of *published* microbial species genomes that are not in NCBI/GTDB.

it's becoming increasingly "unübersichtlich", hard if not impossible to keep track. meh 👇 these guys have their genomes duly sequenced (and you find them in NCBI/GTDB) but they make funny stuff that let's me forget the mess of data collections for a minute 😍
