I tried RTK and bounced off it. I know it's a good system that works for a lot of people, though. My diseased brain isn't happy unless I am doing things the hard way.

I would argue you’re doing it a better way than I am 😂 I don’t learn readings I just learn vocabulary, I have a deck which covers n5 to n2~ ish and then a second deck for when I come across something in a game or tv show or YouTube
