📸 After driving home on an amazing night in May I decided to pop over to the beach at 3am ~just in case~ not expecting to see any aurora at all since I'm in the city and all but no, right there in front of me was several more hours of beauty thru dawn flic.kr/s/aHBqjBBBvU #photography #fotografia

Looking out over Lake Michigan with Chicago's light pollution at my back it didn't matter whatsoever - bright green waves and purple spikes of aurora shining bright enough to reflect off the calm waters, entirely filling the majority of the frame, darkening at the edges into a natural vignette

Looking straight up into an aurora-filled night sky, bold and deep purples stretching overhead from one end of the frame to the other, like arms of an angel reaching out to hold you. Scattered bits of red are seen around the purple, especially at center

Green waves, bright purple, and darker purple spikes of aurora reflect on a very calm Lake Michigan some time around 4:30 in the morning, with the very very first orange hint of morning light on the horizon just starting to become visible. A short pier on the left extends toward the horizon.

Sixteen maybe Californian Pelicans (I'm not good about birds) swoop against the horizon - above them blue lightly-clouded skies, below them bright yellow flowers flowing to the ocean in the distance, said ocean crashing against large rocks in the distance.

Two Californian Pelicans, I think, fly from left to right in almost silhouette against soft white clouds in a blue afternoon sky. Their wings are fully extended, their rather long beaks are leading the way

A surfer in a wetsuit successfully tops an ocean wave crashing ashore. The wave is at its peak height when it starts folding over on itself, perhaps 7 or 8 meters high. Bits of the wave are splashing all about the surfer as he slides above the wave.
