i'd agree, esp considering his environment and how he was shaped as a person, such vulnerable emotions to him would feel foriegn and sometimes i imagine due to that it may feel like a 'threat' to who he currently has masked himself as (not sure if i made a right description of that tbh)

The description is accurate, don't worry. I think so too... he was like an actor to a mock stage, and so, who would want to be out-of-their-character while acting, right?
