9 Anime series off the top of my head from the last 20 years, that, IMO, hang easily with the best of the pre-2000s era.

Sadly for as absolutely rad as Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise was it was a commercial dud on initial release. Might have recouped outside theaters, but that was a rough outcome for Gainax.
