You could substitute Coors or Sam Adams? It's a decent lager.

Presumably theatre districts and restaurant areas (e.g. Brick Lane, Charlotte St) are also hotbeds of organised crime? I recall there being an economic theory/explanation for exactly this co-location of similar shops? This seems a good primer for the interested - www.planetizen.com/node/65765

Ah, I had actually completely forgotten about the genesis of the thread. As often I was too keen on making my own point and did not really engage with the issue at hand. Considering your points I think you are right - the difference does not make sense here. Thanks for the discussion.

Yes, language usage has changed and this has spread to discussions of pet animals also, which was my main point. Sorry, I'm not sure which country you are referring to, and what the claim about oppression is about?

I don't think they are fully interchangeable, I would not presume to know someone's gender even if I knew their sex, or vice versa. In aquaria people usually ask for breeding reasons - in which case I think gender is the wrong term, but it appears an increasingly common usage - language changes.

Gender has replaced sex as the favoured word in general usage. Partly, because it's seen as more inclusive, also usage trend. I see it in aquarium forums; people asking about their fish. You are assuming a lot about that animal that can't talk when you ask us to tell you its gender!

Since I only ever used the following feed of twX and do the same here, and basically never post, it feels pretty much the same to me.

Heresy is certainly an interesting way of putting it. I get that people fled TwX to avoid certain things, and prefer it that way, but that is what block is for. Isn't piling on just engaging? Fascinating tension between the "Dorsey" and "Masnik" views on protocols and services. Masnik leading so far

I recall similar at Twitter. Then sneering at hashtags in regular media etc. Magnified here by deliberately different "vibe", partly reaction to twitter. Moderation is going to be interesting, Bsky has become the provider, not just protocol as envisioned. Idea of 3rd party mod subscriptions broken.

Yes, it must be a successful "Castro cigar" thing.
